Interview
with Corin Nemec (2) |
Date
of publishing: 16th October 2005
The Scifi World was at FACTS
Convention this week end and we had a talk with Corin
Nemec between 2 autograph cessions. So Don S. Davis (see
the interview here) came back for another autograph cession
and it was Corin's turn to speak with us!
Both of them were really friendly and we had a great time.
Some audio parts of this interview will be published soon
on the site. Check out the photos from that convention at
the bottom of the page! The interview was conducted by Gilles
Nuytens and Steven R. from Stargate
Omega.
Steven R.: How was
the beer? Corin Nemec: Good
actually, very good!
Gilles Nuytens: So
welcome to Belgium, how is it to be here? Corin
Nemec: Being here is cool because the name of the
country is very exotic (laugh) from America, but I haven't
seen much of the country to be quite honest, only out of the
window of the car. I hope I'll have a chance to come back!
Gilles Nuytens: You
said in my last interview (see
here) that you will think about a script for a possible
come back of Jonas, please tell us your ideas!
Corin Nemec: I've been thinking about it
and I talked briefly with one of the writers up there but
I've been concentrating so much on writing other things and
trying to develop something more in life. I just haven't had
the opportunity to really sit down. I don't even know what
the storylines are anymore to be quite honest, so I'm not
sure how I would really approach it. I don't even know who
the characters are anymore.
Gilles
Nuytens: Some people are
thinking about you coming to Atlantis. What do you think about
that?
Corin Nemec: It's not going to happen
Gilles Nuytens: Can
you say something to your Jonas fans?
Corin Nemec: Kelowna is actually a city in
British Columbia (
laugh)!
Gilles Nuytens: What's
the funniest thing that you did on Stargate?
Steven R.: The banana
scene?
Corin Nemec: It was funny but it wasn't funny
like at the time. No one was really laughing on the set. I
don't know because the season I did, there wasn't too much
joking around or practical jokes or anything like that. So,
maybe it's the banana scene.
Steven R.: Or perhaps
the ice cream scene in the Prometheus?
Corin Nemec: The ice cream scene is good.
That's actually a funny scene. I haven't seen that episode
yet, but doing the scene was funny.
Steven R.: You should
see it!
Corin Nemec: Yeah?
Steven R.: Yeah
you should, it was funny!
Gilles Nuytens: Some
people doesn't like Jonas, what's your opinion on this? Say
something to them, please!
Corin Nemec: I think they're just looking
a little too deep into it (
laugh) you know? I mean, come on, it's a TV show, we're all
having fun, have fun too!
Steven R.: Would
you like to play in Stargate Atlantis?
Corin Nemec: I'm not going to be on Stargate
Atlantis. I would yeah! It'd be good, because I like working
with that group of people up there. But I don't see it, if
they haven't written Jonas in since the last episode I did
I highly doubt that they'll write him
in again.
Gilles Nuytens: What
was the reaction of the rest of the cast/crew when they announced
the return of Michaël Shanks (and your departure)?
Corin Nemec: I don't know because I wasn't
really around for that but probably not much, they probably
were glad it wasn't them (
laugh)!
Steven R.: Tell
people how they can contact you?
Corin Nemec: On my website www.corinnemec.com
I do answer questions on there. I haven't done it in two-and-a-half
weeks - three weeks actually, and that's really bad for me.
I usually do it at least every two-and-a-half weeks.
Gilles
Nuytens: The other cast
and crew members didn't called you when they knew you were
leaving?
Corin Nemec: No! (
laugh)
Gilles Nuytens: But
your time was great there!
Corin Nemec: I had a great time, yeah, absolutely.
It's political in a lot of ways. But at the end of the day
everybody wants to keep their own jobs. So, no one really
cares, which is fine, but the reality is much harsher than
the idea of reality.
Steven R.: But why
had you to go away when Michaël Shanks came back?
Corin Nemec: Because ... actually I don't
know.
Steven R.: The rules
says that you don't have to be 4 members, so why not 5?
Corin Nemec: I really don't know. It may
have worked quite well. It might have been really interesting.
The dynamics would have been very interesting.
Gilles Nuytens: It's
a question of money as Joseph Mallozzi said recently in his
blog.
Corin Nemec: Based on the budget of that
show, I was being paid well but I wasn't being paid an exhuberant
amount of money. It depends on their point of view of what
I would have been looking for, which wasn't much.
Gilles Nuytens: But
it's what he said, otherwise they could use Georges Clooney,
Stallone or so ...
Corin Nemec: It makes sense to me, yeah!
Steven R.: Have
you seen Homecoming and Fallen?
Corin Nemec: No...
Steven R.: If you
see it, you'll see you working together with Michaël
Shanks, that was great and natural!
Corin Nemec: I loved acting with them. Yeah!
Gilles Nuytens: My
last word: Please write to the producers and come back in
Stargate (laugh)!
Corin Nemec: (
laugh) Thank you! Good to meet you in person!
